From our fantastic local designer, Ollie Darton, who makes our Xmas trees, these candlesticks are designed and hand turned on a lathe specifically for Vanil to showcase and compliment the beautiful slender pastel toned candles from Ester & Erik.

The candlesticks are designed and hand turned on a lathe specifically for Vanil to showcase and compliment the beautiful slender pastel toned candles from Ester & Erik.

Using surplus timber, American White Oak and Beech sourced from a local timber yard, wood that was originally destined for the wood burners and open fires of Suffolk and Essex – instead of turning them to ash I have created simple Scandinavian inspired forms to cast dramatic silhouettes and shadows in the candlelight.

PLEASE NOTE: All Ollie Darton lathed trees are UNIQUE hand-turned pieces, and designs and the wood that that they are made from do vary from piece to piece.

Description

The maker’s story behind the collection:
Approaching my 40th birthday I decided to leave behind my career as a footwear designer and embark on a new venture. Following in my fathers footsteps, I started designing bespoke furniture and taking on the odd restoration project. It’s through my hands that I discovered a love of wood. I wanted to make my designs available to everyone, so I created a forest of trees, each handcrafted and unique. Using off-cuts of oak, walnut, beech and many other woods from my commissions, everything has a use.
Always practical, always beautiful.
