Understanding the importance of individuality, each style offers an array of colours and sizes to ensure the perfect accent for you and your home. Many sizes and styles are available in stock with larger items available on pre-order (3 – 4 weeks). Some larger rugs are also available ex-demo too. If you cannot find what you need on the website, please contact us directly for more information.

All Pappelina plastic rugs are made at the weaving mill in Leksand, Dalarna in rural Sweden. With the sound of wooden shuttles rushing forth and back – a well-coordinated interplay between loom, warp and weft – to create the pattern of choice. Each rug made represents a piece of Swedish craftsmanship and thanks to great composition, high quality materials and devoted craftsmen (and women), we can offer you the durable, contemporary and colourful design that is Pappelina.

I am so proud to be given exclusivity in the Woodbridge area of Suffolk, representing Pappelina as the main brand at Vanil. The rugs compliment our full range of products really well, so I feel very confident that it will continue to be the ‘must have’ rug in every home! Pappelina was one of the very first products I discovered, knowing instantly that I would like to work with this wonderful brand, and so have done so for the past 10 years. The amazing colours of the rugs draw customers to the Pappelina wall in the Vanil shop, always approached with intrigue, as customers are not quite sure what material they are made of or what to expect. We advise customers to start with a small door mat, a perfect size as a welcome to any home, 9 times out of 10 a customer will return to choose another for a different room. One particular customer has re-named them Mandy’s rugs — haha.

Lina Rickardsson is the designer who creates these really exciting patterns for each new collection, with her bold sense of shape and colour these rugs come in a range of sizes; they have become a firm favourite with Vanil customers and I just love them! The designs are woven into rugs using plastic threads at a weaving company in Sweden, which was originally set up in 1948, many of the early machines are still at work today. The process of weaving a Pappelina rug begins with the 600-metre-long thread that must be warped onto the loom. Next, each individual thread must be inserted the right way. All of this is done by hand. Especially important is the setting of the weights that ensures the straight edges of the rug. As always it’s all about the detail, that’s what sets these rugs apart from similar products; so, they not only look gorgeous but are also very practical as they wash easily, which is especially great in a house full of children and pets!
