So now in October the weather has started to turn. It’s not cold but I need no excuse to bring out our gorgeous blankets and throws adding extra layers around the home.

The simple smart black and white stripe ticking is such a favourite at Vanil. The throw looks great mixed with white linen and cushions and can be used indoors or out,  on a wooden sun-lounger in the garden or to snuggle in a beach hut. I love the Tine k Home collection in various stripes to dress our lovely Amelia Rose (sailing boat). The linen bedding from Linge Particulier and By Molle are textiles to add layers of interest to a bedroom.  Greys and whites are a strong feature in our Vanil collection, there are so many different tones, from cool greys to warm, pale and french. We love all greys except in the sky!

Grey is fab as a backdrop teamed with pops of colour as a cushion in linen or velvets. We have just received our Hand dyed velvets from local designer Kirsten Heckterman. Each cushion is backed with natural linen and the new colour palette is devine.

With a shop full of colour, pattern and texture our walls are in brilliant white with a grey back wall which allows all of these to stand out.

White is such a simple tone and allows light into a room. We also love our Tine k home hand dipped ceramics, finished in white with grey tones.

New for Vanil we have added Ceramist Sue Pryke who’s muted tones are beautiful. Concrete has become a very popular material on floors and worktops and now we see this being used in Sue’s ceramic collection.

Soft white Linen used for a bedroom, there is nothing better and you don’t have to iron.

These are just a few examples but there are many gorgeous ways that grey and white can be used,  both coours are such a strong part of any interior and we love it! x
