‘Stockholm Art Week’ is a celebration of the Stockholm art scene that takes place this year between 19 to 24 April. Showcased during the week, it is exciting to view well known leading artists alongside emerging new talent from Scandinavia. A range of venues throughout the city will host all things arts related in the established institutions, independent galleries to small pop-up-shops. Here at Vanil, we love on our discovery trips to source artists whose work we believe compliment our story, whenever possible we like to meet with them in their studio to really appreciate their work.
Digressing slightly — artwork that originally introduced us at Vanil to beautiful images of Scandinavian homes and interiors, many years ago as art students, were those by the watercolour artist and story teller Carl Larsson. The interiors he depicted were designed by his wife who was also an artist; she chose the colour schemes and made the soft furnishings for their family home. This couple were way ahead of their time, creating a light-filled beautifully comfortable relaxed home, that looks so contemporary today; we are still inspired by this creative duo.
Back in the room — an artist we love to support and showcase is one of our lovely discoveries, Danish printmaker Monika Peterson. We have introduced her to you through her lovely ‘lemon’ print in ‘House & Home’.
